Norway Advance to Last Eight after Eliminating Brazil

Brazil started the World Cup once again with a mission to score a hexa. However, like the last five World Cups, one of the football superpowers had to leave empty-handed. Although the hexa of the trophy was not achieved, the hexa of the farewell was achieved. The Select stopped in the last sixteen due to Erling Haaland's monstrous performance.

The five-time world champions Brazil were eliminated from this tournament after losing 2-1 in a high-voltage match.

Despite not attacking much throughout the match, Norway kept possession of the ball. They had 66 percent of the ball throughout the match. However, Norway only managed 9 shots on goal. On the other hand, Brazil managed 14 shots but were repeatedly saved by the heroics of the Norwegian goalkeeper.

Norway took the lead in the seventh minute of the match. However, Sorloth's goal was disallowed due to offside. Brazil was awarded a penalty in the 14th minute. However, Guimaraes' penalty was saved brilliantly by Norway goalkeeper Niland. Both teams had some shots on goal in the first half, but both teams' goalkeepers were outstanding.

Norway controlled the match by keeping possession of the ball in the second half. However, Norway took the lead in the 79th minute of the match. Holland scored a header from Andreas Scholderp's cross. Then Brazil was desperate for a goal. However, Holland scored another goal in the 90th minute. That almost confirmed Brazil's loss from the WorldCup.

After the scheduled time, 7 minutes were added. However, Brazil was awarded a penalty in the fifth minute, from which Neymar scored. But it was too late. Then the referee blew the final whistle of the match. After that, the Brazilian fans broke down in tears. The loss means Brazil have yet to win against Norway. Of the five meetings between the two teams so far, Norway has won three and drawn two.
