Iran-US Peace Talks in Limbo

Multiple explosions were reported early Tuesday on Iran's Qeshm Island. At the same time, the US military carried out limited strikes on Iranian targets in the Strait of Hormuz. The Associated Press (AP) reported, citing US officials, that the strikes were "defensive" against Iranian forces involved in the use of surface-to-air missiles targeting US military assets.

US Vice President JD Vance expressed optimism about a deal with Iran as news of the attack broke on Tuesday (November 3). He said that indirect talks had made progress and that an agreement was likely to be reached. President Donald Trump has also said that a deal with Tehran could be reached. However, the recent attacks and the conflicting positions have made the future of diplomatic efforts uncertain.

US Attacks Key Iranian Military Island

The US military has launched a military strike on the strategically important Iranian territory of Qassem (Qeshm) Island in the Persian Gulf. According to a report by the US media outlet Wall Street Journal, the controlled attack was carried out to prevent Iran's ability to freely attack the Strait of Hormuz, a major international energy supply route. It is also known that the attack was carried out in great secrecy. The attack targeted various Iranian air defense systems and missile launchers.

The Wall Street Journal, citing a senior US official, said that US warplanes have been conducting limited attacks on Iran's strategic military islands connected to the Strait of Hormuz in a very secretive manner for some time. However, this has not been reported by the top media to avoid a major conflict.

When asked which party they would like to see as the majority in Congress, 46 percent of voters voted for the Democratic Party. On the other hand, 38 percent supported the Republican Party. That is, the Democrats are ahead by 8 percentage points. In political terms, such a question is called a 'generic ballot'
