US Attacks Key Iranian Military Island

The US military has launched a military strike on the strategically important Iranian territory of Qassem (Qeshm) Island in the Persian Gulf. According to a report by the US media outlet Wall Street Journal, the controlled attack was carried out to prevent Iran's ability to freely attack the Strait of Hormuz, a major international energy supply route. It is also known that the attack was carried out in great secrecy. The attack targeted various Iranian air defense systems and missile launchers.

The Wall Street Journal, citing a senior US official, said that US warplanes have been conducting limited attacks on Iran's strategic military islands connected to the Strait of Hormuz in a very secretive manner for some time. However, this has not been reported by the top media to avoid a major conflict.

Amid the secretive attack, President Trump is touting the possibility of a diplomatic deal. So far, there has been no comment from Iran's top media outlets about the attack. There has also been no information about a counterattack.

The US is holding crucial midterm elections today (November 3). According to the country's media, the US may launch a large-scale attack on Iran after the elections are over. Iran has also threatened unprecedented retaliation against US installations throughout the Middle East if attacked.
